Juniors set the pace for Chard and Dist swimmers
Chard and District Swimming Club took a team of 12 and under swimmers to the second round of the Southern Junior League last weekend, at Horfield, Bristol. The team achieved a commendable fifth place, against stiff competition, writes Hannah Pullinger.
Some great swims secured a total of 15 top three positions came from: Elisha Hawkins 12, first in 50m breaststroke, Michael Moulding 9, third in 25m breaststroke, Leo Bonning 9, third 25m freestyle, Henry Taswell 11, second 50m backstroke, Ryan Adair third 50m butterfly, Lewis Pearson 12, third 50m freestyle, Jess McAuley 9, third 25m freestyle, Eden McDonald 9, third 25m backstroke, Xanthe Dyer 10, second 50m butterfly, Abi Bonning 11, third 50m freestyle, and Leo Kindred 11, third 50m breaststroke 11 and 12 years events.
Relay successes: the 11yr boys’ freestyle and medley teams achieved second positions in both events, and the 12yr boys secured third in their freestyle event.
The Junior League Squad for this Gala were: Boys: Leo Bonning, Ben Webb, Michael Moulding, Joss Copeman, Simon Davis, Oliver Bright, Oliver Parry-Leyshon, Ryan Adair, Ben Greenslade, Liam Mathieson, Henry Taswell, Leo Kindred, Lewis Pearson, Tom Simpson.
Girls: Eden McDonald, Leonie Housham, Jess McAuley, Imogen Waterhouse, Daisy Brett, Jess Fowler, Megan Herbert, Xanthe Dyer, Holly Dickinson, Jess Patch, Abi Bonning, India Woodhams, Helen Underwood, Somer Horsfield, Tamsin Edge, Elisha Hawkins, Ella Harvey and Grace Haskins.
