The ladies' section had another busy day with three competitions running at the same time. The 36 hole Jubilee Cup is gruelling at the best of times, but in tropical heat Jackie Seager did really well to score 71 pts (34 + 37) in this Stableford competition. Mona Carter was runner up ocb with 64 (32 + 32). The winner of the High 6 Trophy was Majsan Stroud with 33 Stableford points, chased by Susan Hyde with 32. In the monthly Stableford Silver Division Elizabeth Ward did battle with Diana Gee and won ocb with 36, while newcomer Janet Hughes won Bronze 1 Division with 34. Second was won ocb by Catherine Doherty with 31 from Lesley Oxenham.
Bronze 2 winner was Majsan Stroud.
with 33 points, closely followed by Susan Hyde on 32 points and Jean Moon on 31 points. Linda McLaughlin was 4th with 27 points. The Christopher Cup winner was also decided this week and the honour in this knock-out competition went to Jean Moon with runner up Lesley Oxenham.
Dave Beer, with the assistance of Vic Wood won the Seniors Greensome event with 35 Stableford points. Making the most of the glorious weather, 72 members turned out for what is not everyone’s ideal format, but all enjoyed the day. Dave Morgan and Howard Clayton took the second spot with 33 points, beating Fred Utting and John Northover on count back. John Vessey and Ray Cross scored 32, just edging out Mike Jones and Trevor Bradley.
In perfect weather, 28 Honiton golfers played a Treble 6 competition. The winners were Jan Dickinson and Terry Dimond with 36 points. Their score was helped by Terry driving the green on the eighth - a feat not usually achieved in the Tuesday Mixed.
In second place were Linda McLaughlin and Bob Underwood with 35 pts and third ocb were Sally Chapman and Bob Barnes with 34. Fourth were Stephani Barnes and Tom Chapman.
