Keech does well at Champions of Champions event on famous course

Axminster golfer Sophie Keech has recently returned from playing in the Champion of Champions event held at The Duke of York championship at Royal St George’s in Sandwich, Kent.

Keech, as the English Under-18 champion lined up amongst a field of 55 champions from 33 countries worldwide.

After the third round which was played in wet and windy conditions the Axminster lass 23rd on St George’s links course which is famous across the world for its hosting of the Open Championship.

By the end of a weather-hit second day Keech had climbed two places on the leader board to 26th.

The sun shone for the final round which was overseen by the Duke of York and Keech played superbly to finish seventh in the girls competition and 26th overall.

This competition has to be the only one where the par is the same as the boys.
