Lyme Regis golfing star, Sophie Keech, was one of only two girls to feature in the annual HMC Golf Foursomes Championship, competed by eight schools across the British isles.

The event, held at Burnham and Burrow Golf Club, was marred by some dreadful weather, however, all games were played which ended up seeing Millfield win the title. After qualifying from one of two groups of four, Millfield faced Whitgift School from South Croydon and came out 2-1 winners in a tough and tense final. Keech played some outstanding golf in the face of terrible conditions and, with her partner, Aidan Yates, returned with a 100 per cent four match winning record in the event to help Millfield to their national triumph.

Shortly after the event Keech went to Yeovil to compete in the South West Ladies’ Golf Championship.

Two 18-hole medal rounds determined the top 16 qualifiers for a match play knock out to determine this year's champion. Keech continued her rich vein of form and carded an impressive 142 gross after two rounds which was level Par to lie second overall. This gave her a second seed in the knock out stages, but unfortunately, lost in her last 16 match against fellow Lyme Regis golfer, Jane Southcombe.

Sophie has a week off now before she contests four big tournaments in August, the first being the English U18 Championships at Cheshire in two ‘ time.
