Kev Kelly played a pivotal role with bat and ball as Honiton made it back-to-back Tolchards Devon League E Division (East) wins and just two points dropped from a possible 40 at the start of a new season.

Honiton banked a maximum 20 points from an emphatic 141-run win over Exwick. Batting first, Honiton closed on 240-6 with lots of batting contributions down the order. Kev Kelly top scored with 53 while both Andy Canniford and Adam Holmes both had knocks of 48 while Pete Matravers and Tom Strawbridge chipped in with 24 each.

The Exwick reply never got out of first, but then it was not allowed to by some fine Honiton bowling, with Kelly completing a fine all-round afternoon’s work with 4-15 and Dave Haysom claimed impressive figures of 3-3.

This Saturday (May 19), the Mountbatten Park men go in search of a third straight win when they travel into Exeter to meet a Topsham St James side that won well at Axminster last time out.
