Kilmington banked a full house of points to move into second place in the D Division East table and they did not have to swing the willow or bowl the leather to achieve it.

That’s because Cheriton Fitzpaine had advised in the week before the game that they would not be able to raise an eleven.

That was something of a relief for Kilmington skipper Ralph Cook who said: “We were struggling to get an eleven together ourselves with it being my brother Dave’s wedding. We’d have got a team out onto the pitch, but it would have left the seconds mighty light so for Cheriton to cry off was a huge bonus!”

The now married Dave Cook will be back in the side for the trip to Tiverton next. Skipper Cook says: “It’s a game we will relish for they (Tiverton) are going well and I have no doubt they will be as keen to beat us as we are them.”
