Axminster Indoor Season is now under way, but with somewhat mixed results, writes David Harris.

The ladies did the club proud with an excellent win in their first County Foxlands League fixture of the season by beating Dawlish 79-73.The away rink of Brenda Edwards, Joan Quick, Kay Smith, and Margaret Crompton won (26-16) whilst both home rinks won by five shots- Phil White, Pam Clark, Marion Harris, and Sheila Martin (22-17) and Mary Preston, Alison Glyde, Ann Clayton, and Nola Stephens (21-16).

The ladies also had an exciting triples friendly game at Sidmouth, losing by just three shots (40-43) with Jean Kesterton, Diana Courtenay-Smith, and Chris Barber playing well (14-9).

In mixed friendlies, Ax lost at home to Honiton (36-67) before going on to beat Dunkeswell at home (72-45) with wins for Lilian Lovatt, Pam Hunter, Chris Todd, and David Harris (32-11) and Morrison Brown, John Hill, Ann Clayton, and Margaret Crompton (24-14). They then went on to lose two away games, first at Sidmouth (52-74) and then at Madeira (52-65) despite a good win for Brian Clark, Diana Courtenay-Smith,David Harris, and Margaret Crompton (24-18).
