Three Exeter drivers battle for glory at Wiscombe Park this coming weekend in the Roadgoing Series Production Car category catering for vehicles with engines ranging from 1800cc to 2600cc.

Sports car drivers Tim Rees and Adam Butler, who drive Mazda MX5 and Toyota MR2 respectively, will have to face up to the rapid Renault Clio pilot Dave Norman but all three will have to defeat Colyton driver George Koopman in his Honda Integra if they wish to gain the class victory.

The Roadgoing Specialist division sees another Exeter man in the running for success in the form of Paul Sullivan in his Westfield SEi. Sullivan will need to display a good turn of speed to take the premier award and dismiss the challenge of Keith Hazell in his fleet Sylva Striker.

The first of the modified divisions will see what may well evolve into a monumental battle of Mini man with Dawlish's Adrian Langley with his Austin variant ranged against the similar machine of Vince Stone. A former Bridge Tyres and Wheels Wiscombe Champion, Martyn Pike, from Ottery St Mary, will be the favourite for victory in the 1400cc to 1800cc Modified Limited Production category. The accomplished driver, back on track after a period away from the hills, will be keen for a good result in his Ford Escort.

The honour of Crediton and Exeter will be fought over as residents Kevin Frost (KMD) and Andrew Short (OMS SC21) seek the honours in the Sports Libre class.

David and Jan Yeo will go 'head to head' in the Modified Specialist Production Car division when they share the driving duties in their 1300 cc Locost sports car whilst Awliscombe residents Dave and Pam Gardner contest the 1100cc Racing Car class in their Empire 001 with Des Stephenson and his OMS ZZR providing stern opposition.

The main focus for many enthusiasts will be the battle for the prestigious Fastest Time of the Day which will see Terry Graves, who has already claimed a win at Wiscombe this season, in his Gould GR37 single-seater racer face the challenge of Pilbeam MP58 mounted Rod Thorne.

The event organiser, the Five Clubs co-operative, will promote events on both Saturday and Sunday which will count for a number of regional championships.
