It was a good, if hot, match as the sun poured down upon the Ottery St Mary pitch throughout the 70 minutes!Honiton opened the scoring midway through the first half when a penalty corner was awarded, captain Amy Phillips scoring with a splendid first shot on goal. Not long into the second half it was the visitors' turn to strike home and a further goal was added not too long after. Both sides had other opportunities but there were no additional goals. Honiton, fielding a number of new players in this friendly pre-league season game (as well as the welcome return of goalie, Sue Stone, after a year's sabbatical) played well together; and will get even better when the side gels with more familiarity. The league season begins in a fortnight's time.Players of the Match: Hayley Lambert and Amy Phillips.l Practices are resuming weekly until Christmas at Cloakham Lawn, Axminster, on Wednesday, September 24, between 7.30pm and 8. 30pm. If anyone is interested in playing hockey in a friendly environment come along - the club welcomes you regardless of current ability!
