Lyme Regis was the venue for LRSAC's shore competition on Sunday, June 7. Fourteen anglers turned out from 5pm-9pm to try and get the best aggregate specimen percentage of two different species. After Saturday's rough weather the water was left muddy and murky, but that didn't stop Toby Guest, Darren Herbert and Steve Fowles landing some good fish. The competition was won by Darren Herbert with Toby Guest second, they fished together in the harbour and off of the high wall. Between them they broke four 2009 shore records with smoothhound, ballan wrasse, golden grey mullet and silver eels. Darren's golden grey mullet is also in the running for the best specimen trophy at the end of the year, with 97.91 per cent. And Toby's fish is also in the running for the Silver Eel trophy, weighing in at 600grms. League results so far are: Sunday League: Darren Herbert 20pts, Toby Guest 14pts and Steve Fowles 13pts. Wednesday League: Darren Herbert 13pts, Steve Fowles 12pts and Toby Guest 12pts.l The next competition is on Wednesday, June 24 and will be fished at Abbotsbury, 6pm-11pm. Sign on at Abbotsbury car park. Anglers will be fishing for the best specimen on a lure (anything artificial - NO natural bait!)New members always welcome.
