Lyme One’s winning run came to an end last week, going down 8-2 at Sherborne in the final league game of the season, writes Terry Moffitt.

Lyme Two enjoyed a better end to their season, with an 8-2 win over Greenhill.

In the South Dorset League, Lyme men were again successful with an 8-2 result against Wellworthy.

The ladies came unstuck in their away game against Wimborne, surrendering all 10 points in a match they would have hoped for some reward for the journey!

In friendlies against Crewkerne and a day tour game against Paignton and Torbay , Lyme came away with wins in both.

It is hoped that the club will be able to visit Paignton and Torbay in a return fixture next year.

In the annual 101 competition Helen Dowling won the Beryl Stephens Plate while the Ben Stephens Plate was won by Steve Pomeroy with Angela Rattenbury and Neil Soloman the runners-up.

Ben Stephens presented the winners with a ‘bottle’ and then provided supper for all the contestants, with the catering in the capable hands of Sue Wood and her many helpers.

Lyme’s men are reminded that the end of season roll-up and supper is now on Monday, August 31.
