Lyme Regis August stableford success for Matt Watson

Matt Watson continued his winning form as this promising junior won his 3rd competition within a fortnight by topping Division One of the Lyme Regis August stableford with 43 points, writes Richard Jackman.

There was some impressive scoring with David Retalllack finishing second with 42 and Jon Ebdon third with 41.

Division Two was even tighter as Jerry Linnert just pipped Richard Cook on countback with 40 points with club president John Owen, third on 37. The midweek stableford saw the top three places taken by juniors - Stuart Wight, 34 points, Matt Watson and George Seed both with 32.

The ladies Daily Mail Foursomes was very close as Rosie Jackman and Ronny Turner just beat Hanna Jacobsen and Rosemary Shepherd on countback, both with net 74.5 with Felicity Poole and Ellie Langford third on 75.

Another close finish was in the ladies August greensomes, won on countback by worthy winners Sue Jupp and Marlotte Howard, from ladies’ captain and vice captain Rosie Jackman and Caroline Baker, both pairs finishing with 35 points.

Di Smith and Anita Holmes came third with 34. In the junior stableford, Dominic Beardwood dominated with 40 points with Cameron Moss 36 points and Brad Searle 34 points in second and third respectively.
