The evening was poorly attended compared with previous years but 34 members and partners had a very enjoyable evening, ending with dancing with music supplied by Wessex Star Disco.

Regrettably, many of the prize winners were not present and their trophies had to be collected by their nominees.

The most prestigious award of the evening is always the captain’s plate, awarded by the captain to a member who has given outstanding service to the club.

This year it was given to retiring fixtures secretary, Jim Moseley. Jim has done this job for the last 11 years and this, together with his maintenance work, prompted Alan Nabarro, our captain, to award this to Jim, who is a very worthy recipient.

Alan Weech, competition secretary, announced the winners and Pat Cole, our President, presented the trophies.
