Lyme Regis bowlers enjoy good week

It’s been a good week in the league for the men again, writes Paul Moffitt.

However, there was, unfortunately, another slip-up for the ladies.

Lyme One continued their winning run with nine points against Wellworthy whilst Lyme Two followed last week’s full house with eight points against Bridport. The ladies, I’m afraid, had their second whitewash in two weeks, this coming after such a promising start to the season.

The men were unlucky in the County Cup against Poole Park. Despite winning three of the four rinks, they trailed behind in overall shots scored. This was a very good performance by the men who, despite being without several of their first team members, were able to run Poole Park very close, considering their team was liberally sprinkled with Middleton Cup players.

In the friendlies, Lyme scraped home by the narrowest of margins away to Topsham, always a tough and popular venue which produced three drawn rinks. Hosting South Dorset Bowls Association, Lyme went down by 15 shots on a glorious, and welcome, sunny afternoon.
