Lyme Regis bowlers get a soaking, but win well against Bridport

Archant

The weather took its toll on the Lyme Regis league games this week, writes Paul Moffitt.

Both Lyme One and the ladies’ saw their games reduced to 15 ends whilst Lyme Two had their game at Wellworthy reduced to 18.

Lyme One had another convincing win against Bridport A, taking eight points off the visitors, getting soaked to the skin in the process!

Lyme Two came away with six points, despite only winning on one rink, a good result away to Wellworthy nonetheless. The ladies made easy work of visitors Gillingham, despite extremely windy conditions, they claimed all 10 points.

The men took on the might of Wellwothy’s best in their Top Club confrontation this Saturday and lost in four of the five disciplines. A fine effort from Paul Pomeroy to come from behind to win the four wood singles was the highlight for Lyme but, there were some extremely close games in the other disciplines giving Wellworthy a good run for their money.

Just two friendlies were played in the past week. A trip to Wells was cancelled because of insufficient support. The old enemy, Bridport, came to Lyme and ended with a reasonably comfortable win against the men, something we shall have to remedy when we play them at home.
