Lyme Regis Deputy Mayor Steve Miller bowled the first wood as Lyme Regis Bowling Club officially opened, writes Paul Moffitt.

Having not played since the winter, the first club friendly which followed was a bit of a workout for the players.

Starting from Saturday, April 19, the club contested three friendlies within a week, but are still looking for a win. The club also hosted two open days, the first being last Wednesday (April 24) which was a bit of a washout but the second, on Sunday (April 28), was really well attended and kept club members busy.

The upcoming week sees the start of the various leagues and both men's teams and the ladies will be in action.

The team lost 51-61 to Merriott and 45-72 against Axminster.

On Thursday, April 25, the team lost heavily away to Seaton.
