Lyme Regis Gig Club competed in the Swanage SV Championships, an important event that brings the racing season to a close.
Rowers have to be over 50 years to cut the mustard and Lyme Regis Gig Club has a great track record, particularly for our Men's Squad. In the last Cornish Pilot Gig World Championships held in the Isles of Scilly in 2019, the Lyme Men’s A SuperVets Team came 2nd.
This was a doubly important result, as it has enabled our Club to take two gigs to next year’s Championships.
Meanwhile, back in Swanage, out of a field of 22 competing gigs, Lyme's Men's B Team came 13th and our Men's A Team came a fantastic 2nd, beaten narrowly by Caradon Rowing Club.
In the fiercely contested Women's races, which saw 19 gigs competing, our Ladies B Team came 17th and our Ladies A team came a good 9th.
