In round three of the Lyme Regis Winter League Simon Brown’s well grafted 37 points was just good enough to beat Steve Piper, who continued his recent run of form, on countback, writes Richard Jackman.

Chris Browne finished third with 36 points. Although ladies day again fell to the weather in the Mail on Sunday competition a home draw to Cricket St Thomas proved a challenge as all matches went to the last few holes. Lyme Regis won through with a clean sweep 5-0.

The victorious team was Melissa McMahon, Jane Southcombe, Jenny Scott, Caroline Baker and Rosie Jackman. The men also played their Mail on Sunday match, against Sidmouth, and the team of juniors George Seed and David Lyon and the more mature heads of Adrian Morgan, David Fidge and Mark Lewis won three-and-a-half to one-and-a-half.
