In the Lyme Regis February medal the windy conditions affected many good golfers, but not so young Stuart Wight who kept his nerve on the back nine with four birdies to get his handicap back down to scratch, writes Richard Jackman.

This is truly, a remarkable achievement from Stuart who has only been playing golf for a little under four years.

His net 72 was enough to win Division One from Andrew Dawe, net 73 and Brian Rees – 74. However the best net score of the day went to Colin Baker in Division Two. His steady, no nonsense round, earned him an excellent net 71 points, six shots clear of Brian Deem, 77 with Matthew Brotherton taking third – net 79. In the February seniors’ stableford, Paul Galloway’s gritty 39 points won Division One from Mike D Hankey – 37 and Peter Tinsley’s 36. Division Two had the highest score of the day as Paul Millard played some good, steady golf to earn 40 points and return to Division One with Dave Dallas just beating Bernie Porter, both 37 points, on countback. The ladies enjoyed an 11 hole fun competition, none more so than Silver Division winner Caroline Baker, 22 points and Bronze Division winner Corinne Jones 24 points. Ellie Langford 20 points and Lizzie Linnert, with 21 points, were runners-up.
