Nationally, the wet weather made the news, but Lyme ladies enjoyed two relatively dry days and were able to play on both Thursdays this year, albeit on the testing 15 hole layout, writes Richard Jackman.

In the stableford competition, Rosemary Dare won with an impressive 32 points from Ronnie Turner 30 points and Sassy Hay 29 points.

In the greensome stableford, also over 15 holes, Jane Southcombe and Rosie Jackman triumphed with 29 points over Susan Moore and Ronnie Turner 28 points.

Lyme ladies were also on song in the first round of the Legg Bowl.

The two foursomes pairings of Melissa McMahon and Jane Southcombe and Susan Moore and Rosemary Dare both won against Bramshaw.

Friday was also a good day for David Binns who managed a hole-in-one on the 11th hole, the first time he has got one.
