Lyme Regis Langmmor Trophy win for Joseph Thirwell

The Lyme Regis men played a Bogey competition for the Langmoor Trophy and with an exceptional score of plus seven Joseph Thirwell came first from runner-up James Phillips and third placed Richard Lawrence, both scoring plus five, writes Richard Jackman.

Ladies captain’s day was played in wonderful weather and was very well supported, as the ladies played a team competition in three’s.

Cyndy Mudford, Anita Holmes and Val Waites came first with 77 points. The minor placings were decided on count back after three players posted scores of 76.

Di Smith, Mary Golding and Hayley Rowland took second, Susan Moore, Caroline Baker and Rosie Jackman were third and Jane Dixon, Lizzie Linnert, and Emma Davies, were placed fourth.

The junior captain’s day stableford competition was won by Dorset County Junior Stuart Wight with 39 points on count back from George Yorke with Lewis Gibbons third with 37 points.

It is good to see Stuart back on the leader board after an exceptional year last year that saw his handicap fall dramatically.

In last Sunday’s July Stableford it was three single figure seniors who coped best with the conditions in division one as David Lock pipped Mike Mudford, both on 41 points with Peter Mayles a close third with 40.

Division Two was a more clear cut affair as Patrick Duke’s 41 points saw off Lloyd Cleal, 38 and John McGinley, 36.
