Lyme Regis One secure a swift return to the Championship League

With just two games left of this season they are now in an unassailable position. Team captain, Trevor Allman, wishes to congratulate all the team members on securing the title, winning all 10 games so far with a shot difference north of 200!

Meanwhile, Lyme Two continue to make hard work for themselves. They contrived to draw two of the three rinks and lose the third against Bridport A thus gaining only two points. Lyme Three had a fine 10 pointer against Bridport C in the South Dorset League where points have been quite hard to come by.

The ladies travelled to Gillingham for their league game and were rewarded with a fine 9-2 win, with Chris Barber’s rink making a grandstand finish to snatch a draw and a vital point.

Unfortunately, the friendly against Severalls had to be cancelled on Friday due to heavy and persistent rain.

The club were fortunate on Sunday when they hosted Winchester, one of the standout fixtures in the calendar, as the rain stopped just before the start and commenced again soon after the finish. Over 60 people sat down to a meal afterwards, the hard work in the preparation being down to the Lyme ladies.

Earlier in the week, Lyme hosted the annual Silver Jubilee Trophy with Lyme competing against five other clubs on a round robin basis. Ottery St Mary were once again the victors, that’s three in a row now. This time round they narrowly edged Bridport into second place.
