The past week was a much better one for the league teams at Lyme Regis, writes Paul Moffitt.
The ladies and both men’s teams all managed to secure eight points against West Moors, Wimborne and Bridport B respectively.
In the two friendlies, Lyme won against a tour side from Congresbury, but lost away against Cardiff in the annual fixture.
The ladies hosted their annual ‘Invitation Triples Tournament’, the 21st occasion on which it had been played and this year there were 22 teams that contested the round-robin format.
Despite inclement weather, all the teams had a thoroughly entertaining afternoon followed by a two-course lunch prepared by catering officer Sue Wood and her band of helpers.

The eventual winners were Broadbland, a team made up of players from Broadstone and Blandford, winning 9-4 against Honiton.
This event is kindly sponsored by members Nola Stephens and Lesley Broom. This is always a very popular event as so many people love the excuse to come and play at Lyme Regis.

The club also hosted the Silver Jubilee Cup, a men’s game between Lyme and invited clubs.
The visiting clubs this year were; Seaton, Sidmouth, Chardstock, Bridport and Ottery St Mary.
The eventual winners were the quartet of Chris Elmore, Mike McAlpine, Alan Henson and skip Steve Pomeroy.
Once again a superb spread was laid on after the game by the hard working catering ladies led this time by Pauline Knight.
