The Lyme Regis seniors’ June stableford produced a worthy winner in Division One, writes Richard Jackman.

Stephen Pitt struck the ball cleanly and surely, especially for a birdie four pointer on the second hole to secure 39 points.

Les Bounds is on a good run of form and this continued as he scored 38 points to come second while Brian Clark recovered from a poor start to come in third with 37.

Thirty-seven was also the score that secured Division Two for Graham Pickard as he too steadied himself after a slightly erratic first few holes finishing with a good burst of nett pars to take top spot from Jack Hansen and Keith Chapell, who both put in vintage performances to tie on 35 points, but Hansen’s superior back nine saw him through into second place.

The Knighton Heath team found themselves with a tricky away fixture at The Dorset Golf Resort (East Dorset Golf and Country Club) as Rob Clapp took his shuffled team away.

The results of each match ebbed and flowed, but wins from Bob Taylor, John Coley, Charles Vane Percy, ‘Ted’ Scott and Malcolm Wilson ensured five wins and, sadly, five losses, but an away draw counts as a win so the side march on to the quarter-finals.
