In the 16-hole, four-clubs-and-a-putter stableford, the ladies enjoyed some rare sunshine, writes Richard Jackman.

It was Jane Andrews who ‘made hay’, as she won Division One with 29 points, scoring two better than par on the last six holes to romp home ahead of second-placed Jane Dixon, who scored 25 points.

Third place went to Anne Humphreys with 23 points. In Division Two it was really good to see Judith Ellard come home with 30 points, a testimony to the hard work and practice she has done since taking up the sport less than two years ago.

Although there were some no-score holes, these were outweighed by some excellent play on the majority of others.

Kate Helm battled hard and scored four points on the stroke index one hole, which helped her to second place with 26 points, and it was good to see a steady round from Sheila Claringbold being rewarded with a podium finish, also with 26 points, just losing out on countback.
