Last week was Classic Golf Week and members and visitors enjoyed the wonderful weather and conditions with a feast of golf, writes Richard Jackman.

For Lyme members the Sunday stableford ladies was won brilliantly by Gilly Madill, 37 points, followed by Sue Fossett, 36 and Jane Andrews 35, while Tony Warwick, Craig McGown and Mike Warren came in with 38, 37 and 37 respectively for the Lyme men.

In the individual stableford, Division One, Steve Buxton continued his good form to win with 39 points, just pipping George Yorke on the same score while the evergreen Mike Mudford came in third with 37 points. Division Two was also a close run thing Graham Winter just shading it from Adrian Wallace on countback both with 39 points and Tony Harley, 37, came third.

For the ladies stableford, Kathy Briggs, romped home with 38 points followed by the steady Emma Davies 37 and Rosie Jackman 35. Lyme Regis featured in many of the team events, but visitors from all over the country enjoyed success for away players. Friday evening’s prize giving and gala dinner rounded off a fabulous week.
