Lyme Regis staged the first round of the Dorset County Henderson Trophy, which was well attended by Lyme players, writes Richard Jackman.

Stuart Wight, David Lyon and George Yorke finished third, sixth and eighth respectively out of a field of 31 players.

With the men’s competition washed out the ladies enjoyed a break in the weather to compete in their nine-hole Christmas pairs competition.

With the course festooned with lookalike Santa’s and the odd (not in the strange way!) Christmas tree and snowwoman, it was won by Karen Nicholson and Rosie Jackman with 36 points from Sandra Barclay and Kathy Briggs in second place with 32 points.
