Lyon roars to victory in Lyme Regis Junior Open

The full results of the Lyme Regis Junior Open are now available, writes Richard Jackman.

The best gross score for the leading boy and girl automatically qualify them for the national Daily Telegraph competition. The full results are: Best Gross Boy - David Lyon (Lyme Regis) 71; Best Gross Girl - Fay Carpenter (Ferndown) 77; Girls’ Net - 1st: Carys Parker (Kendleshire) 72; 2nd Lauren Purchase (Canford Magna) 73; Boys’ Net Division One - 1st: Oscar Perry (Broadstone) 64; 2nd George Carroll (Dorset G&CC) 67; Boys’ Net Division Two - 1st: Brad Burraston (Lyme Regis) 63, 2nd: Ben Tamkins (Stover) 68

The seniors’ stableford saw Peter Hardisty, with 38 points win Division One from Roger Stokes (37) and Charlie Lane (36).

Division Two was more clear cut as Alastair Purcell’s 37 points saw off Tony Slater (35) and Colin Conn (34).

Lyme ladies played their Daily Mail foursomes which was won by Jane Andrews and Cyndy Mudford won with a score of 73.5.

Second place went to Prue Russell and Di Dick (74.5), with third going to Caroline Baker and Gilly Madill (76).

Andrews and Mudford will now go on to represent the club.

Lyme’s Hardy B team had a disappointing loss at Canford School with only ‘new boys’ Rob Crabbe and Richard Emm coming up with the goods
