Seaton Under-13s were beaten 6-4 in a compelling Devon County cup tie at Buckland Athletic.

Seaton travelled to South Devon with a bare eleven and, at the end of the game, it was this factor that was most telling.

Reece McCabe fired Seaton into an early lead and, after a swift equaliser from the hosts McCabe struck again only for Buckland to restore parity before the break. It was similar fare after the break. McCabe saw a shot parried by the home gloves man, but only as far as James Fenner who tucked it away to give Seaton the lead for the third time. However, once again the home side came back with an equaliser and they struck again to lead 4-3.

With time running out McCabe’s pace took him clear and he completed his hat-trick to send the game into extra-time.

There were no goals in the first half of extra time, but tired legs began to show in the Seaton ranks in the second half when the home side scored two more goals to bag a place in the next round.
