Speaking after the competition, Morgan said: “I’m delighted to have won my sixth (Open) and seventh (Masters 1) world titles here in Antwerp Belgium. This Championship has been one of my most difficult tasks for many years as I’ve been training for this last six weeks with a damaged hamstring. I’m relieved to have come through the competition without damaging the hamstring any further and look forward to being fully fit for the forthcoming European Deadlift Championships in September.”

He continued: “I’d like to also mention promising Devon powerlifter James Minaer who added the World Championship Bronze medal to his British Junior titles here in Antwerp this weekend. It has been a huge privilege participate and win medals with this promising Devon athlete over this last year and I would like express my congratulations on this fantastic achievement.”

The European Single Event Championships take place in Cherkassy, Ukraine from September 13 to 15.
