A depleted Millwey Rise enjoyed a well-earned result win over Ottery St Mary 2nds in Division 2 East of the Devon and Exeter League.
For Millwey, it was a case of soaking up pressure and relying on counter attacks to pose any threats.
The main danger to the visitors came from both wings, via Jack Farrant and Bradley Conway. Lone-striker Jack Bennett continually posed problems for the Otters’ defence and came close with a quickly-taken strike which had the ‘keeper scrambling to clear.
The second period started with 'Rise' being more positive, especially down the wings. A mesmerising run and shot by man of the match Farrant and a couple of back post headers from Bennett put the Ottery goal under threat.
Defensive resilience from skipper Haydn Lewis and Alex Rockett then provided the platform for a dramatic winner, as Brooklyn Wilkins was felled in the area and Nathan Womersley kept his composure to convert the penalty.
