Millwey Rise completed their pre-season fixtures with a 5-0 success at East Budleigh.

With a number of new faces in the side it took Rise a while to settle into the game and it was goalkeeper Bret Garner, who was called into action on several occasions, making a number of excellent saves.

Once they had settled into the contest, Rise began to pass the ball with confidence and it was surprise when a poor throw from the East Budleigh glovesman arrived at the feet of Nathan Womersley who squared the ball to Jack Farrant who tucked it into the net.

That proved to be the only goal of the first half, but just 10 minutes into the second half Womersley doubled the lead and three minutes later it was 3-0 with an assists from Sam Waddon and a clinical finish from Womersley.

Substitute James Rockett, who took over from Nicky Land, played in Ty Allen to make it four and the final goal was a delightful lobbed effort from Sam Burke.

Millwey Rise begin a new season of Devon and Exeter League football tonight (Wednesday) when they travel to Lyme Regis Reserves
