After their impressive pre-Christmas run, Millwey Rise Reserves were brought crashing back down to earth, beaten 4-2 at home by Central Reserves, writes Dick Sturch.
Mark Pike opened the scoring for Millwey but what followed was a series of silly mistakes which included giving the ball away far too easily which enabled Central to move into a 2-1 lead by half-time.
On the restart Mark Pike gave the home side hope when he scored again to put the game level. Though the mistakes and errors continued throughout the second period and Central took full advantage to finish the game 4-2 winners.
For Millwey the ability of youngsters George Carter and Chris Pritchard to step up into the senior side was a positive step for the future.
On Saturday the Rise second team travel to Tedburn St Mary (2.15pm).
