Millwey Rise completed what has been a very successful pre-season with a 1-0 win over visiting Beer Albion Reserves, writes Dick Sturch.

The visitors fielded a strong XI for the Friday evening Cloakham Lawns encounter that saw its one and only goal netted five minutes into the second half by Steve Wooloof.

'Rise' certainly had several more opportunities to add to this, but some stout defending from Beer and missed opportunities by the home strikers, denied them.

The only blight on the night for 'Rise' was an injury to their young keeper Tommy Donnan, who limped off with an ankle injury late into the match.

One of the problems the Millwey management trio could well be faced with ahead of their opening league game, with Central, is who to leave out after the two excellent team performances in the two games against higher placed opposition this pre-season. This is a much better situation than the struggles of last season.
