This week’s format for the ladies was a 3-2-1 stableford played in teams of three, but in view of the bitterly cold weather the game was reduced to 14 holes, writes Andy Wagner.

With three scores to count on the first five holes, two on the next five and one on the final four, it became a battle to the finish with Mona Carter, Jan Dickinson and Sheila Jelly emerging in first place with 56 points.

Henrietta Bradshaw, Penny Blackburn and Stephani Barnes took second spot after count back and Pam Manning, Di Wall and Margaret Jory were third with 54 points.

Sue Ritchie, Chris Luttman and Susan Hyde were fourth with 52 points.

The highlight of last week’s match play practice was a magnificent hole-in-one scored by Jean Moon on the 12th and she ensured there were drinks all round whilst club captain Dave Morgan ensured the occasion was marked appropriately by presenting her with a “hole-in-one” ball marker.
