Moore and Gibbons grab glory at Lyme Regis

The Lyme Regis men’s 3-ball better ball, two scores to count competition was won with an excellent score of 85 points by L Caddy, M Thirwell and Myers, writes Richard Jackman.

A better back nine score ensured that S Vincent, W Vincent, and Hampton beat Coombe, M Taylor, and A Richardson for second place, both with 81 points.

The Lyme seniors entertained Meon Valley in the preliminary round of the Knighton Heath knock out and, after drawing five-all, cruelly lost in a sudden-death play off.

The successful five for Lyme were David Lock, Mike Mudford, Rob Clapp, Keith Gibson, and captain Malcolm Wilson.

Lyme ladies’ braved the elements on Thursday for their Macmillan Spoon stableford competition where a gritty performance by Susan Moore with 34 points landed first place from Anne Humphreys 31 and Lucille Bannister 30

The junior’s monthly stableford on Saturday saw Lewis Gibbons top the pile with a steady 39 points from George Yorke 37 and Matt Watson on 34.

Lyme Regis is hosting the DLCGA County Championship for four days from April 29, and the club is eagerly looking forward to welcoming Dorset ladies to the club.

Saturday evening saw a fantastic turnout to see the re-formed Chain Reaction in support of the charity night for Hospicecare.
