Paul Pomeroy, of Musbury Short Mat Bowls Club, was selected to play in the ‘fours’ for England at the recent World Championships in Sweden, writes Kay Short.

His team of four players reached the semi-final against another four from England, which they lost.

They went on, however, to play against the other semi-final losers and won the third place trophy.

This win helped England to secure the championships as the other ‘fours’ and the ‘triples’ team won their sections. Paul was also picked to carry the flag at the opening ceremony, which he was thrilled to do.

Musbury Bowls Club is very proud of Paul’s achievements and now has two England players in the club. The other one is James Trott, who has played for England on several occasions over the last few years.

Axminster Carpets, where Paul works, is also proud of him and has been very supportive of his achievements.
