Honiton CC have a new man in charge following the appointment of Adam Holmes as 1st XI captain for the remainder of the season.

The Francis Clark Devon league D Division basement side went into the campaign with Kev Kelly in the hot seat, but he was finding it harder and harder to combine personal work with running the side.

Holmes explained the switch saying: “Kev (Kelly) rang me in midweek to say he was thinking of standing down and during our conversation he asked if I fancied taking the captaincy on? I didn’t need too long to think about it as it is a great honour and so agreed to give it a go.”

Holmes made a great start to his captaincy as he led the side to only their second win of the season as they beat visiting Filleigh by 45 runs at Mountbatten Park on Saturday.

Make sure of a copy of this week’s Midweek Herald - out next on Wednesday, June 19 for a match report on the Honiton success in the new skippers first game.
