A new member claimed success in the latest Honiton seniors competition, writes Andy Wagner.

Alan Devenney is the gentleman concerned and he certainly set off on the wrong foot by securing the top spot in the seniors monthly medal in division one.

He has promised not to do it again, but we will watch him closely and his handicap is up for revision already!

He came in with a nett 63 to win and collect the winner’s tankard, easily beating the rest of the field. Ron Graham was runner-up with a 68, followed by John Fleetwood, Tony Proudfoot and Buzz Harris.

Phil Faulkner won Division 2 with a 68 and Jack Phillips came second with 70.

Colin Hughes, captain Bob Underwood and Fred Utting took the other prizes.
