Seaton Town 3, Feniton 1 Town inflicted a first Fresha League defeat on the Blues and put a big dent in the Acland Park side’s title hopes.

Dan Norman put Town in to the lead, but parity was restored by Dave O’Connor for the visitors. After the break the game was dominated by Feniton, but crucially they could not take any of a number of gilt edged chances that came their way whilst the home team were clinical when presented with their opportunities. Norman netted his second and Josh French made sure of a sweet success for the Colyford Road side.

There was quite a contrast in ages across the back four with 23 years difference between right back and left back! Either side of central defensive pairing Mark Perham and Cameron Vere were 39-year-old Jamie Bond and 16-year-old James Hill.

Town boss Josh Stunell was delighted with his team’s performance, though he did concede that the visitors ought to have scored more than their sole goal. He said: “They (Feniton), had enough chances to win the game comfortably. They may point to poor finishing, but I’d argue that we defended superbly and when you deliver the goods like that you deserve any good fortune. My whole back four stood tall and strong and I was very impressed with the way, particularly in the second half when they threw everything at us, that we stood up and showed real resolve.”

Blues boss Mark Kingdon said: “It was simply not our day. We will take this on the chin and must stay focussed for it is only our second league defeat. One or two players need to accept that perhaps we, as a team, need to show the sort of resolve and desire that Seaton showed in this game. There’s plenty left for us to play for and we are not out of the race for the top honour by any stretch of the imagination.”

On Saturday Town travel to University whilst for Feniton it’s an Acland Park meeting with Thorverton.
