Archant

It's been a disastrous start to the league season, both for the ladies and the men, writes Paul Moffitt.

Paul Pomeroy's rink in the Championship was the only team to register a win. The ladies went down by 9-1 to Poole Park, whilst the men's championship side slid to an 8-2 defeat against newly promoted Blandford. The men’s A & B sides both failed to score a point against Wellworthy A and Bridport A respectively.

Both the ladies’ and men's teams are having to make adjustments having both lost several of their experienced players. The ladies did manage to find some sun for their game against Poole Park, but the men playing at home had their games curtailed due to inclement weather.

Three friendlies were played, Lyme only managing to win on one occasion against Victoria Park Bridgwater.

Sunday was our 'open day' with the sun shining down all day, which encouraged nearly 30 people to go down and give bowls a go. Thanks to all those members who gave up their day to help in many ways to make this event the success it was.

Dorset Ladies’ Div 1: Lyme lost away to Poole Park. Ann Allman's team of herself, Nola Stephens, Jean Perry and Sheila Cox managed a draw and a 'hot-shot' to brighten an otherwise poor performance.
