Dunkeswell Bowls Club held its annual dinner and prize presentation at the Airport restaurant in Dunkeswell where members were entertained by their very own Father Christmas, Andy Smith, who as competition secretary was in charge of handing the prizes to guest of honour Hilary Morris, who performed the presentation.

Main winners were Chris Maynard, club champion: Phylis Milner, ladies’ champion; Brab Hallowes, Novice cup and pairs cup, along with Ian Wederell; Ron Eames, 2-wood cup; Tom Smith, 3-wood shield and handicap trophy.

This year the club took first place in the Exeter and District over-60s League (division 3). Captain Ron Milner, who had been unable to attend the league prize-giving due to ill-health, was presented with the cup and was warmly applauded by all.

The club had a new carpet fitted to the bowling green last year, which has improved both the playing and the appearance. They have a reputation as a very friendly club, and always welcome new members, so if there are any would-be bowlers out there, experienced or novice, please contact Di Eames, club secretary who would be pleased to hear from you on (01404) 891633.
