Pollock bags Medford and Eclectic success at Honiton

PUBLISHED: 13:20 31 December 2012

The Honiton seniors splashed their way around the course to play their Medford and Eclectic, writes Andy Wagner.

It was a pleasant surprise to have the course open after all the rain and the ground staff did well to provide a course at all, even though about half the greens were temporaries.

Thirty nine took part and the first casualty of the Winter handicap system was Alan Pollock who will suffer a reduction of two on his handicap of 15 for the rest of the season.

Serves him right for winning Division One twice! He came in with 13 points, closely followed by Bob Cleal who beat Jim Wallis on count back. Don Stroud took the last prize in that Division. Phil Faulkner won Division Two with 16 points. Bob Underwood had 17.

Ashley Murray and Brian Morrison took the final prizes. It was Captain John Discombe’s last appearance as skipper and he had to suffer the well-meant barracking of the members as well as their thanks for an interesting year.
