Chard Swimming Club’s 19-year-old Hannah Pullinger swam the race of her life last weekend to win bronze in the 50m breaststroke at the ASA Senior Age Group National Championships in Sheffield.
Excited at having been accepted to swim in four events at the Championships, Hannah had high expectations for her performance; she didn’t disappoint, finishing in the top fifteen in all events and securing three big personal best times into the bargain – in the 50 and 100m freestyle as well as the 50m breaststroke, where in the fastest heat she powered down the last 25m to clinch bronze.
Hannah, who has trained with Chard Swimming Club since age nine, has competed at regional level for the last seven years but this was her first individual national competition. Now in her second year at Exeter University, Hannah has continued her swimming and competes in the University first team, but still trains with Chard in the holidays and represents them in the National Swimming League.
