AVR athlete Luke Reed had a great day at the Honiton Triathlon, writes Dave Mutter.

Although the weather was wet and windy, 94 hardy souls turned out to show their grit!

The race consisted of a 400m pool swim, 21k bike and 5k run.

The Reed split times were 7:39 for the swim, 36:27 for the bike ride and 21:02 for the run.

This gave him an overall time of 1:06:04 and first place overall.

He was two minutes faster across the course than runner-up Rob Moore who also happens to be his coach!

An ecstatic Reed said post race: “All the hours of training have finally paid off”.
