Reed, Snell and Farrent land Axe Cliff Open success

The Axe Cliff Open was held in warm, but windy conditions, writes Janet Dack.

In first place with 77 points (the best two scores to count)l, were Steve Reed, Tony Snell and James Farrent.

Second place went to Alan Kenworthy, Paul Mullerworth and Simon Kirby with 75 points.

Alex Palmer, Dan Taylor and Stuart Dickson were third with 74 points whilst fourth spot was bagged by Dave Nicholls, Pete Northcott and Jimmy Matthews with 73 points.

There were nine two’s scored by Tony Snell, Chester Barnes, Jim Whiting, Gavin Seward, Rodney Spiller and Simon Vincent.

The longest drive was won by Mark Hubbard whilst the nearest the pin winner was Theo Boalch with the winner of the nearest the pin in two award was Wayne Vincent.

Club captain Basil Dean held a raffle for the Devon Air Ambulance, with prizes donated by family and friends, the Co-op Store, Harepath Road and Tesco Seaton, a big thank you to all.

It’s wonderful to be able to report that £200 was raised.

Captained by Alan Kenworthy, Axe Cliff played in the Palairet against Elfordleigh at Padbrook Park where they were beaten one-and-a-half to three-and-a-half in a closely contested match.
