CONTINUED problems with the weather has led to the Devon & Exeter Football League issuing a statement that some clubs are now set to face three games per week to complete their 2008/09 campaigns whilst the league have also taken the unprecedented step of appealing to member clubs to make their grounds available to hire so that the league can indeed get the season completed on time.A notice on the League website, www.defleague.co.uk, this week reads: "With the fixture programme backlog getting larger every week some clubs may find that they have to play three matches a week to complete the season. The Easter programme may also be fully utilised as well. In the past the League has tried to avoid the Bank Holiday dates but, if more games are postponed then a lot more eggs will be in the Easter fixture basket."With regard to the request for pitch availability, the league is asking for clubs to step forward if they can make their pitch available and the first to step forward were Feniton who are prepared to rent out pitches at their Acland Park headquarters for a standard charge of 50. Blues' secretary Mel Mead is the person to contact on (mobile) 07748141622.In terms of local clubs, it is Upottery who are set to be amongst the busiest fitting games into what remains of the season. Starting with this coming Saturday there are just a dozen Saturdays available. The villagers have 17 matches to play.
