There was quite a small field for the latest Honiton mixed competition, four clubs and a putter, writes Liz Rogers.
The format was Greensomes Stableford and in this the choice of clubs is important for, if you decide not to select a sand wedge, you have to keep your fingers crossed that your playing partner will manage to avoid all the bunkers!
The winners, decided on just one point on countback on the back nine, were Sue Ritchie and Keith Bellinger with 35 points.
Only just missing out, also on 35 points, were Jan Portlock and Richard Pyle. The ladies’ secretary, Lesley Oxenham, presented the prizes and gave a vote of thanks to Maureen and Laurie Tollemache who have organised these competitions for the month of September.
