Roberts shines at British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) Standard Distance Triathlon Championships

AVR runner Liam Roberts raced in the British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) Standard Distance Triathlon Championships for a bit of fun given that it would probably be his last opportunity to compete in a BUCS race, writes Dave Mutter.

This was held as part of the Cholmondeley Castle Triathlon.

The conditions were wet and windy, but water conditions were warm and Roberts covered the 1500m swim, hilly 44 km bike and (short) 10 km run in 27:50, 1:15:49 and 34:09 respectively for a total time (including transitions) of 2:20:30 and 19th position.

The high standard of the BUCS race was shown by the fact that his time would have given him fourth place in the open race.

Another AVR runner, Emma Kiernan, ran the third of the Towpath 10K races in Bristol on Friday evening where she finished 111th in 45:37.
