The day was blisteringly hot, and, with an 11am start, runners struggled being out in the hottest part of nearly the hottest day of the year, although organisers did put on three water stations.

The race was won by Matt Clist in 41:05. Rod Inglis was first home of the HRC contingent, finishing seventh in 50:03.

He was followed one place later by Richard Harris in 50:45. Hadleigh Davies had a great run to finish in 53:19 and 10th place and he was followed by third lady overall and first lady back for Honiton, Ceri Oak, 12th in 54:12.

The next three home were all HRC runners; Vernon Gillard, 54:13, Jo Davey (second lady overall), 54:42 and Judy Davey, 55:03. Pippa Westall was next back, 20th in 56:45.

Tim Pepper followed, 32nd in 1:02:58 with Rebecca Stevens 33rd, 1:03:05. There were 46 finishers.
